Maria Wojtyszko

The Nest

The beginnings of the Polish state

Since childhood every Pole knows the story of three brave brothers Lech, Czech and Rus, the white eagle, the bad king Popiel and noble Wanda, who did not want to marry a German. We know about the beginnings of the Polish state and its first rulers. But do we really know and understand them, do you still feel good about them, does it help us in the twenty-first century find the answer to the question “Who are you?”
Perhaps today, the „Little Pole” would gladly look behind the scenes of the legend through the eyes of Maria Wojtyszko: read a little diffrently, more teasing, perhaps funnier, and contemporary. Author of scripts for cinema and television, texts for theater, a member of the Laboratory of Film established by the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing, winner of the XXI Competition for Children’s and Youth Play organized by the Children’s Art Centre in Poznan, her latest stage play was written specially for Fredro Theatre in Gniezno.

We welcome the youngest viewers to the Eagle’s Nest!
